News: Singapore Sustainable Seafood Festival (8-15 Jun)
Launching in tandem with World Oceans Day, Singapore’s inaugural Sustainable Seafood Festival will run from 8 – 15 June 2014. Organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Singapore in partnership with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the public can look forward to exclusive “Pick The Right Catch” offers centred on sustainable seafood at participating restaurants and hotels, such as Strait Kitchen, Absinthe, Gattopardo, and Oscar's.
Shoppers can also look forward to an expanded range of MSC certified sustainable seafood products at Cold Storage, including (introduced in Singapore for the first time) wild Patagonian scallops, Asiatic hard clams, Atlantic cod, pink salmon and Alaskan Pollock.
Sustainable seafood can be explained as “seafood from either wild caught or farmed sources where the amount harvested can be maintained or increased in the future without endangering the ecosystems from which it was taken”.
