NEWS: Star-studded Gastronomic Weekend with Chef Joan Roca, Chef Björn Frantzén & Chef Eneko Atxa
After a year of uncovering new restaurants, wonderful dishes and—most importantly—great chefs, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants is out to tease both our hearts and palate with a star-studded, once-in-a-lifetime gastronomic weekend coinciding with the announcement of their 2014 awards.
Friday, 7PM, 21 February 2014: Chef Joan Roca (El Celler de Can Roca, Spain) and Chef Andre Chiang
For the first time, Joan Roca, Head Chef at El Celler de Can Roca (The S. Pellegrino World’s Best Restaurant 2013) will team up with Andre Chiang (The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Singapore) for an unforgettable dinner experience on Friday, 21 February 2014. The degustation menu—four from Roca and three from Chiang—will see the marriage of Roca’s innovative Catalan cooking and Chiang’s French nouvelle cuisine with Mediterranean accents, and will be matched with wines from Chiang’s cellar of small artisanal producers. Proceeds from this collaborative dinner will be donated to the Red Cross in support of Typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines.

Saturday, 7.30PM, 22 February 2014: Chef Björn Frantzén (Restaurant Frantzén, Sweden)
Celebrated Swedish chef, Björn Frantzén, will star as guest chef at award-winning Les Amis restaurant for an exclusive dinner on Saturday. Bjorn is famed for his deft culinary treatment which he showcases at his illustrious Restaurant Frantzén in Stockholm (No.12, The World’s 50th Best Restaurants 2013). Björn ,the holder of 2-Michelin stars, will share his modern Scandinavian style but with an Asian influence.

Sunday, 7PM, 23 February 2014: Chef Eneko Atxa and Chef Andre Chiang
Two of the world’s youngest and most influential chefs, Chef Eneko Atxa—Spain’s youngest three Michelin star chef and head of the ecofriendly restaurant Azurmendi—will showcase his progressive and natural Basque cuisine which features strong technique and recreates natural aromas, which Chef Andre Chiang will match with his French nouvelle cuisine, coined Octaphilosophy after his idea that aptitude to taste is primarily affected by our memory banks.
