Moving into its second year in Singapore, The Entertainer sheds its material skin for something more fashionable and relevant to today's must-have—a smartphone app launching 1 November. Boasting a curated list of some of the best dining, leisure, wellness, entertainment, and hotel outlets, the user-friendly app makes redeeming offers and enjoying savings a breeze, as we experienced during our recent revisit to Bedrock Bar & Grill.
The Entertainer's October offer for Bedrock may be a promising 'Buy 1 Main Course Get 1 Free'—a steal, especially since their premium steaks range from $80 upwards—but I highly recommend the Heirloom Tomato Salad ($20). Featuring a medley of fresh, juicy heirloom tomatoes lightly tossed in basil oil, then served with Parmesan crisps and celery sea salt, this starter makes for a scrumptious palate-cleanser prelude to the rich, fattiness of beef to come.
Service at Bedrock is top-notch—our server came presenting different cuts of raw beef with explanations when we were deciding on the menu—and use of pre-heated ceramic plates to keep your food warm was a welcomed touch.
We went along with the server's recommendations and were not disappointed. The USDA Prime Dry Aged Ribeye ($96 for 300-grams) is sublimely tender, teaming well with a savoury, spicy Bedrock Bacon & Chilli Oil sauce that really accentuates its extra depth of beefy flavour; and the equally succulent Australian Grass-fed Ribeye ($89 for 400-grams) is delightfully toothsome with a smokey edge and a slightly chewier texture.
Perfect for sharing is the hearty Tomahawk Steak—400-days grain-fed, F1 long-bone Wagyu Ribeye—and the comfortingly creamy Bedrock Mac & Cheese ($18) that's been jazzed up with a hint of truffles. Or if you're looking to end off the meal on a sweeter note, go for the Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich ($20)—two guilt-inducing scoops of honey & fig ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce, cuddled by freshly baked buttermilk waffles.
Aside from their list of health, wellness and beauty merchants, The Entertainer app features a long list of dining establishments, ranging from fine dining, contemporary restaurants—like Skyve Elementary Bistro & Bar, Cocotte, and Kaixo—to cafes, bars, and even my favourite pizzeria, Extra Virgin Pizza.
What I am truly fond of for this eco-friendly move onto a smartphone platform is its ease of use—you only require a 4-digit PIN to redeem offers, and they tell you how much you've saved—and that we no longer need to lug around its heavy, paperbound previous incarnation to have more discountable dining options.
