Celebrate 300 Years of Martell at Shang Palace
Founded in 1715, Martell is the oldest of the great cognac houses. To celebrate its Tricentenary, Martell has teamed up with Shang Palace at Shangri-la Hotel Singapore to showcase The Martell Trunk by renowned French luxury malletier Pinel et Pinel - an elaborate masterpiece housing the entire range of Martell cognacs, from Martell XO to the prestigious L’Or de Jean Martell, and more - as well as an exclusive Martell cognac-paired set menu.
Braised Bird’s Nest, Shredded Chicken in Supreme Broth
The five-course Martell Pairing Menu by Master Chef Steven Ng features dishes such as Braised Bird's Nest and Shredded Chicken in Broth (best enjoyed with a splash of Martell VSOP) and Honey-Glazed Kurobuta Pork, and also highlights three of the house's cognacs: Martell VSOP, Martell XO and Martell Cordon Bleu.
Priced at$198++ per person, this pairing menu is available from now through February 2016. Guests may also select from a list of cognacs, including the opulent L’Or de Jean Martell ($8,888), Martell Création Grand Extra ($1,488) and Martell Chanteloup Perspective ($1,288).
A definite standout from the menu is the exquisite Steamed Cod Fish and Glutinous Rice Bamboo Leaf Dumpling. Masterfully executed, the fragrant bamboo leaves open to reveal a most plump, tender hunk of cod resting on a bed of delicious dried scallop- and crab meat-studded, flavoursome glutinous rice. The oiliness of the fish nicely undercut by intense, spicy notes of Martell XO.
