Duck Specialities by Roast Master Chef Nobuyuki Sato - Shisen Hanten at Mandarin Orchard - Osmanthus Pipa Duck Available only for a limited period till 31 August, Barbecue and Roast Master Chef Nobuyuki Sato from the Akasaka Szechwan Restaurant in Japan (or 'Shisen Hanten' as it is popularly known) presents his delectable lineup of signature duck specialities at the chain's 15th outlet, and also first overseas outpost, at Mandarin Orchard Singapore.

Worthy of repeat visits is Chef Nobuyuki’s fragrant and crisp Osmanthus Pipa Duck ($62 whole, $32 half) teamed with a delicate osmanthus sauce, but the highlight of our evening was the 'wet' Shisen Hanten Roasted Duck ($62 whole, $32 half, $16 per portion). Marinated in chilli and peppercorn then executed till tender, the homely soup packs spicy ending notes that will leave your mouth watering for more.

Also delicious are other chilli pepper- and Szechuan peppercorn-laden gems on their permanent menu, as well as the decadent Foie Gras Chawanmushi ($28), where that mellifluous, buttery flavour blends into the pillowy egg and crab roe soup mixture.
