Edge, Pan Pacific Singapore - Epitome of a Champagne Brunch
Now this is what I call a true Sunday brunch - a spread befitting of a king, no allocated time slots, and enough champagne to drink to your liver’s discontent. Edge @ Pan Pacific Singapore has now launched one of Singapore’s longest champagne brunches, serving copious amounts off Veuve Clicquot champagne every Sunday from 12pm to 4pm. Nothing seats better by a glass of Veuve than a wide selection of fresh seafood. At the seafood corner, one can expect to find Boston lobsters and 3 types of French and Canadian Oysters alongside other fresh catches from the sea.
Other highlights of this brunch also include the “Live” grill section, where fresh cuts of meat such as Omi Wagyu, Pork Collars and Lamb Chops among others are prepared a la minute. I suggest you scrap all dieting plans for the day, and order yourself as much Omi Wagyu Beef as your stomach can take. With just the right amount of fat to meat ratio, a dash of salt lends to a burst of flavours with just the right amount of meat tenderness. Although not on display, be sure to ask the chef behind the counter for the signature Pan Pacific Sausages that are grilled upon request.
While the wide buffet selection at Edge may cater to any of your whims and fancies, appeasing to everyone’s palate is virtually impossible. The poached egg with truffle coulis, a supposed signature, was so poorly poached that the chef could have saved himself from a culinary faux pas if he had just renamed the dish to hard boiled eggs with truffle coulis instead.
Cheese-lovers would be delighted to know of Edge’s extensive range of 30 varieties of artisanal Cheese and Raclette prepared on demand. Edge’s dessert counter was akin to a museum tour, where its exhibits bear more of an aesthetic appeal than an edible one. Interesting creations like the Candy Crush Sponge Cake is bound to put a smile across any toddler’s face, but one does not need a discerning palate to know the dessert was nothing more than a combination of blue food colouring into a sponge cake, with a thick layer of fondant on top.
Edge definitely takes the definition of Sunday brunches to the edge with a four hour champagne brunch that would even have alcoholics staggering out at 4pm. The food selection is extensive, but most of the food fared average with a mentioned few that left a good impression; so do save more room in your stomach for those. No wait scratch that, I say champagne all the way.
The champagne brunch is priced at $158++ per adult, which also includes some selection of wine such as Cloudy Bay Pinot, etc.
