MICHELIN Guide Street Food Festival 2019: Price list + What to splurge on!

Returning for its third run, the MICHELIN Guide Street Food Festival showcases some of Singapore’s best. Happening this weekend (22-24 February 2019), expect a specially-curated line-up of 15 establishments that have been recognised in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2018—10 of which are new participating establishments.

If you’re reading this, the bad news is that they’ve SOLD OUT all regular tickets ($30), but their VIP Package is still available. Priced at $200 each, it comprises of: dedicated seating area (up on the Coliseum stage area) with service staff; tasting portions of food from all stalls; a welcome glass of wine and beer; and bottle of evian or Badoit water.

And if you’re one of the lucky ones to have snatched a regular ticket, do remember to bring cash, or an American Express card (the only credit cards accepted here), for your $30 top-up coupons; each $30 top-up gives you 9 coupons and a bottle of evian or Badoit water.

Here's my take on where to spend your coupons on:

  • Burnt Ends: While it's a whopping 7 coupons for their Steak Frites, I think it's worth it since it's already quite tough to score a reservation—plus it's priced at $35 at the restaurant.

  • Char: Similar reason to above, their Signature Char Siew sells quite fast so go for it if you have yet to try it.

  • Tai Wah Pork Noodle: A few dollars more than what you'll pay at the actual stall, but it does save you the time queuing.

For establishments like New Ubin Seafood, Rang Mahal, Shisen Hanten, and True Blue Cuisine, frankly I feel a full experience of dining in at their respective restaurants would be rewarding (and also fair to the restaurants), compared to settling for measly tasting portions at high prices on event grounds.

This was an invited media tasting session, though all views expressed are my own.
