The GREAT Food Festival (TGFF) 2018 at RWS: Topless Baker and Bo.lan chef amongst star-studded team
UPDATE: Chef Gaggan Anand of two Michelin-starred Gaggan will be part of The GREAT Food Festival, and will be doing a demo on Progressive Indian Cuisine on Sunday at 5pm.
Lauded to be the region’s must-attend gastronomical event, 2018’s The GREAT Food Festival (TGFF) celebrates its return by adding seven more international culinary stars—including Chef Dylan Jones of Michelin-starred Bo.lan and Matt Adlard, affectionately known as the ‘Topless Baker’—to its line-up of celebrity and veteran chefs,
The former will helm the event’s first-ever 6-hands collaboration, a Southeast Asian-themed special menu with Chef Num from Samuay & Sons and Chef Khanaporn Janjirdsak from Trang Ko, in Tastes of Siam at the Star Chef Arena; whilst the latter (we hear Matt is very likely to be fully clad for classes though) will join dessert doyens Chef Philip Koury who led R&D at Adriano Zumbo, Australian celebrity Chef Neil Perry and Chef Andres Fatso to present some sweet masterclasses at Rollin’ Sweet Times.
The four-day festival, organised by Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and Savour Events, happens from 27 to 30 September 2018. A one-day pass starts from $30, while a new top-tier Ultimate Fan Pass costs $288 (tickets available from the TGFF website).
TGFF 2018 will feature four thematic segments: Star Chef Arena; Rollin’ Sweet Times; new segment The Cellar that will bring attendees on an intimate, wine-paired premium meat and cheese journey and wine masterclasses by renowned Master of Wine personalities; and Feast of Kings, a medieval-styled banquet hosted by celebrity chefs, which we hear is already sold out.
At the Star Chef Arena, guests can enjoy over 40 new/signature dishes prepared by the star-studded team of overseas celebrity chefs and resident chefs of RWS, and also experience the debut of the ‘concept kitchen’, with acclaimed chefs coming together to present collaborative and delicious discoveries.
Aside from the six-hands collaboration, two most-watched young talents of the Italian culinary world, Michelin-starred chefs Oliver Piras (of Aga Ristorante) and Francesco Brutto (Undicesimo Vineria) will uncover a menu celebrating Italy’s most beloved staple, pasta.
Rollin’ Sweet Times, probably Asia’s largest consumer dessert and pastry showcase, wows with their line-up of the trendiest bakers and dessert chefs from around the world, including up-and-coming pastry star Joe Leong (Chef Sam Leong’s son) and veteran pastry and dessert chef Kenny Kong, winner of Best Pastry Chef of the Year at the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence 2017.
For the guys who prefer a tipple to aid with digestion, there’s also a Diageo World Class Bar—a TGFF 2018 exclusive, which features 6 specially hand-picked World Class drinks concocted by Diageo World Class Bartenders—and a ‘Secret Garden’, first-in-Asia thematic Tanqueray Citrus Terrace and Whisky Passage for all your G&T and whisky needs.
