Singapore’s Largest Pen Cai at Cherry Garden
Measuring up to 45cm in diameter and weighing in at more than 25kg, Cherry Garden's astounding and prodigious Luxurious Pen Cai, also the largest in Singapore, is perfect if you’re looking to indulge in the ultimate Chinese New Year Feast.
Priced at $368 for 6 persons—though I feel there’s more than enough to feed 8—the brimming pot of treasures comes filled with 17 premium ingredients, such as 4-head abalone, lobster, roasted pork belly, dried oyster roll and convoy. This is available on Cherry Garden’s Success set menu (min 6 pax, $138 per pax, or $148 per pax with Premium Hamachi Yusheng).
Luxurious Pen Cai
A smaller version of this mammoth dish is also available for takeaway. The Cherry Garden Treasure Pot ($368, sharing for 6 pax, takeaway only) is packed with 13 ingredients (sea cucumber, abalone, conpoy, Tianjin cabbage, dace fillet, scallop, prawn, dried oyster, Chinese sausage, black moss, mushroom, roasted pork, roasted duck).
Prosperity Yusheng
Also noteworthy is the Prosperity Yusheng ($78 small, $117 medium, $156 large, available for both takeaway and dine-in)—a creation made light, almost fluffy, with loads of crisp, fried vermicelli—tossed with smoked salmon, crispy fish skin, an olive oil-spring onion mix and a full-flavoured plum sauce that elevates the dish with a pleasant touch of acidity.
For this weekend only, Mandarin Oriental Singapore offers a special Weekend Family Brunch (min 2 pax, $98 per pax) where diners can tuck into their signature Prosperity Yusheng, in addition to an abundance of Cherry Garden’s delicate, finessed dim sum, roasted meats and seafood, as well as selection of delectable soups and desserts.
